New Sony PSP Go Leaked; Still Not a Phone

Mobilewhack.com

There’s no Sony Ericsson PSP phone yet but there’s a new PSP ready to be unveiled by Sony. Luckily for all of us Sony has managed to leaked it over and now we get to at least look at it. The new handheld gaming console will be probably announced at the E3 2009 but by that time we will already know what it looks like. The PSP Go, that’s the name of it, is a slider ready for lots of gaming on the go. It will supposedly offer you 16GB of internal memory, built-in Bluetooth and a memory slot. There’s no price and availability date for the Go just yet so we’ll be looking closely for that official and hopefully very revealing press release. What we do know for sure is that this PSP Go doesn’t come with any phone capabilities yet.

A slew of Touch Pro 2 unboxings

WMExperts

HTC Touch Pro 2

A favorite pastime of us phone nerds is to gather around a phone in a box … and take it out. And record ourselves doing it for posterity. And after the break, a quick roundup of some HTC Touch Pro 2 unboxings and some hands-on time. (You can read Dieter’s hands-on from Mobile World Congress.)

Remember that this is the unbranded, European version of the Touch Pro 2, so design is likely to vary slightly (Verizon and T-Mobile), or greatly (Sprint) when it’s released by the U.S. carriers. (And we’re still looking for AT&T shots that aren’t renders. If you’ve got ‘em, send ‘em!)

So without further ado, unboxings from Mobile Tech Addicts, Tracy and Matt and Pocketnow.

iCar Remote for iPhones is Fake but a Good Concept

Mobilewhack.com

The intent was good but apparently the app is nothing more than pure fiction. The iPhone has been known to be many things. It can be a remote, a GPS and a gaming device. Of course it is by understanding a great means of communication. But sadly, being an iCar Remote could have taken the cake.

Fake as it may, we have seen a lot of concept apps come true after a few months. You have to give the guy who created this video some slack. He really has a good idea. But the thing is, it is not yet available…for now.

Command and Conquer Coming to the iPhone?

Mobilewhack.com

I just don’t believe it. The iPhone has been so flexible that practically any app on any platform can be easily integrated into it but finding out that the classic war strategy game Command and Conquer: Red Alert will soon be on the iPhone has really gotten me all the more curious!

Apoc has just confirmed on his Twitter page that “Command & Conquer Red Alert for iPhone will be at E3″.

Now this has to be something to watch out for. Surely, there is a great majority of gamers out there who would love to see what this transition would have on the iPhone. But if there is one thing uncertain at this stage, it is that it doesn’t mention anything on pricing or the schedule of release. For now, let us wait and see but that would certainly be a hit should these sources live true to their word.

Japan Hands Out iPhones for Student Attendance

Mobilewhack.com

Depending on how you look like it, the bottom-line is that Japanese students are getting iPhones for free. The intent for this is not to be charitable but to keep track on the attendance of students, most of which have been skipping classes.

Now if an iPhone would be used, you would think that these kids could still skip class. With an embedded GPS, the school can easily track the attendance of students who are unlikely to lend it to their co-students due to the stored information and private e-mails stored in it.

Aoyama Gakuin University in Tokyo is giving Apple Inc.’s iPhone 3G to 550 students in its School of Social Informatics, which studies the use of Internet and computer technology in society.

As a student, you would love to be among the lucky students who would be given a free iPhone. But if you are the type of student who would love to get into mischief and make it a habit to skip class, then perhaps you would pass.

Either way, you got to hand it to Aoyama Gakuin University for adapting technology. Blending technology with disciplining students is a good move considering the iPhone craze has gone beyond just being a simple handset or gaming device as we see it today.
