HTC Imagio gets Hard-SPL
WMExperts
![]()
The HTC Imagio just received a seat at the kitchen table to enjoy some home cooking. Home cooked ROM’s that is.
PPCGeeks member cmonex has released a Hard-SPL that will enable custom ROMs to be installed on the Imagio. And it didn’t take long for a cooked ROM to surface.
NRGZ18, a popular chef in the cooked ROM community, has already released a Beta version of his popular EnergyROM for the Imagio. The Rom is based of of Windows Mobile 6.5.5 with the option of Sense 2.1 or 2.5.
While custom ROMs aren′t for everyone, being able to customize the ROM on the Imagio will only add to this very nice Windows Phone.

Nokia C6 allegedly shows up – it’s a QWERTY touchscreen phone
Unwired View
Less than two weeks ago, Nokia officially introduced the Nokia C5 as its first Cseries phone. The second Cseries handset might be the Nokia C6, which has allegedly appeared in a rendering suggesting that it’s definitely not the Nokia Mystic, as initially believed.
Said rendering shows a touchscreen phone with a sliding QWERTY keyboard – some sort of a mix between the Nokia N97 and Nokia 5230.
The C6 was approved by the FCC at the end of February, and this new image does match the sketch the FCC provided, so it seems to be the real deal.

There aren’t too many details about the features of Nokia ʤ, but it’s said that it only has 256MB of internal memory. The ʤ should be available in Europe starting this spring.
In semi-related news, Nokia has apparently canceled the release of its Booklet 3G in France because it was too expensive (€749 – about $1,030).

Joos Orange Personal Solar Appliance
Mobilewhack.com
Solar Components have created the Joos (pronounced juice) Orange, which apparently has the power of delivering more than 2.5 hours of cell phone talk time for every hour of talk time. This means that it is good for 20 times the powering capability of existing personal solar power devices.
I found this video of it in action after the jump, where someone has measured the power of it at “twice the amount as required for a regular cell phone”. Not only that, he puts the Joos Orange underwater, and it seemed to be charging now matter what.
The Joos Orange will be available June 2010, for a price of $99.95.

Milestone gets Android 2.1 in Bulgaria
Mobilewhack.com
There has been a lot of indicators that Motorola Milestone would be running Android 2.1, and we have learned that Bulgaria will be the first to get it.
Bulgaria’s leading carrier, Vivacom, will be selling the Motorola Milestones with Android 2.1 on March 20th. Many have speculated that Bulgaria is only the beginning, and it will be only a matter of time before Android 2.1 gets a bigger European rollout. I suppose we shall see.

LA Robe Tablet for Wacom tablets from be.ez
Mobilewhack.com
If you haven’t heard of be.ez before, then you should probably get to know them well.
The company produces a lot of sleeves for the MacBooks. I had a chance to try out the LA robe Tablet, a sleeve that protects Wacom’s products. Hopefully, you have heard of Wacom before, they produce some very cool tablets for digital writing and drawing, such as the Intuos4 and Bamboo series.
The LA robe tablet protects the Wacom product well with low resilience polyurethane memory foam. They come in different sizes for different prices: the LA robe Tablet Creativa is $20, the Tablet Artista is $25, the Tablet SketcВ is $25, and the Tablet Studio2 is $30. They are available at many retailers and online distributors.

Windows Phone 7 Series to support HVGA screens
WMExperts
In terms of Windows Phone 7 Series news, this week’s Game Developer Conference (GDC) has been a warm up for the main event at MIX next week. We&rsquove seen Microsoft release XNA Game Studio 4, which can be used to develop games for 7 Series devices. We also got a chance to talk with Loke Uei of Microsoft about development for 7. (By the way, if you haven&rsquot seen them yet, Engadget got their hands on some screen shots from a couple of prototype games that the Windows Phone team has been showing off.)
The latest bit of news from Shawn Hargreaves of the Windows Phone 7 Series development team comes from a post on his blog about XNA Game Studio and Windows Phone. Much of the post is talking about capabilities that developers can expect to be able to utilize. Shawn does mention that 7 Series devices will ship with WVGA (800𝚠) displays at launch, but a future update will add support for HVGA (320𝚠) displays. Hopefully this will lead to a lower starting price point for Windows Phones without compromising too much on quality.

MIX10 Tweeter App Released
WMExperts
Windows Phone 7 Series is bringing a lot of attention to MIX10, Microsoft’s developer’s conference. We are anticipating more information on this new mobile operating system ranging from developer specs to core hardware specs.
To help keep those of us who will not be able to attend next weeks MI≪, Software Logistics has released an application that will help keep everyone up to date with the activities at hand. The MI≪ Twitter App pulls in tweets (automatically updating every 30 seconds) with the #MI≪ hash tag and delivers it to your Windows Phone. The downside to the app is the links are not live, taking a bit of the zing out of this app.
The MIX10 App is a free download and available through Microsoft’s Marketplace on your Windows Phone.

Qualcomm patents mobile device with multi-fold display
Unwired View
Qualcomm has filed a patent for a mobile device that should feature a multi-fold display. The device should allow users to fold and unfold it, transforming it from a phone into some sort of a tablet, and even into a TV-like set.
Qualcomm’s multi-fold device features a “processor configured to execute at least one software application having a graphical user interface, the processor being responsive to the folding configuration sensor to modify the graphical user interface based on the detected configuration.” The UI can act as “a panorama UI, a desktop UI, an application UI, a web browser UI, an alarm clock UI, a media player UI, or some other UI.“
One of the problems with this device is that, when folded like a cell phone, it would be quite thick – somewhat like that IcePhone seen back in 2008.

As you may already know, Qualcomm doesn’t directly produce phones (although it provides chips and software to many important phone makers), so it’s a bit weird to see this patent application. But, who knows, maybe Qualcomm plans to make some devices of its own sometime in the future.
