Nokia to launch phones priced at $10 in India

Although India is the world’s second largest mobile market, there are still more than 500 million Indian people who don’t have a cell phone. And perhaps that’s why Nokia is planning to launch phones that cost under 1,000 INR (about $20) in the country.
According to Economic Times India, among these phone there will be “a limited number of sets” priced at only 500 INR ($10).
There’s another company that wants to launch phones priced at 500 INR in India – the company’s called Gee Pee and, ironically, some of its current handsets look like Nokia knock-offs:
At the moment, Nokia’s cheapest mobile phone is the Nokia 1280, pictured below:
The Nokia 1280 costs about $30 and features a 96 x 68 pixels monochrome display, 3.5mm headset jack, FM radio, Ṃ ringtones and flashlight. Most probably, the upcoming $10 Nokia phone will not have a 3.5mm headset jack and neither FM radio.
